"mazda616" (mazda616)

Today was the first time I really got to push my car’s handling to its limits, or the limits I’m brave enough for. Seriously, a front-wheel-drive family sedan has no business being this fun.
It’s so smooth, planted, and steady through the curves. The slightest twitch of the wheel sends it whatever direction you want. There’s crazy little chassis play. The whole package is just really put together well.
TL;DR The 6 is possibly the most fun all-around midsize sedan you can buy. It’s handling is quite honestly another level compared to most.

That’s a really nice car, and it would be on my short list if I was in the market for a new sedan. But, it could really use a turbo to compete in this segment, as other auto makers offer cars with over 200+ H.P. Not necessarily another Mazdaspeed, but something to back up the Zoom-Zoom marketing.

I figure they will offer the turbo SkyActiv from the upcoming CX-9 soon enough.
But the 184 HP on this car is deceiving. It does 0-60 in 7 seconds flat, which is quicker than most N/A four-cylinder sedans in this segment. Mazda has designed this motor to have virtually all of its power on tap at anytime, so there's no lag due to turbos or anything else. Honestly, the car feels pretty quick to me - especially for what it is.

I believe some heavy duty trucks offer multiple turbo like the one pictured.
That said, I have the 2.5L in my CX-5, and it’s never felt slow. A turbo would just get me in trouble.

Curious: MT or AT? I’ve heard good things about both.
